Sha’Carri Richardson’s successful Olympic debut may be over, but the Team USA track and field star is just getting started with her post-Olympics glow-up. Richardson is among a handful of athletes who have partnered with Olay, to help promote the beauty brand’s new “Cleansing Melts” skin cleansers.
The partnership debuted during the 2024 Paris Olympics with the launch of print and digital ads featuring Richardson; 2020 gold medalist, Athing Mu; women’s soccer star Rose Lavelle; rock climber Natalia Grossman; and 2016 gold medalist-turned-gymnastics anchor Laurie Hernandez. The campaign was timed to not only the Summer Games, but also to the launch of the new cleansing pads, and Olay says promotions will continue into the fall.

Olay’s Cleansing Melts are water-activated cleansing pads that dissolve into a foamy lather to help clean, tone and refresh your skin. The creamy cleanser works to remove makeup without stripping your skin. For athletes like Richardson, it’s also part of a daily ritual to remove dirt, oil, sweat and grime after training or workouts. Olay says the dermatologist-approved formula is safe for sensitive skin, with no sulfates, parabens or synthetic fragrances.

As part of the sports partnership, Olay Cleansing Melts were named the “Official Face Cleanser” of Team USA at the Summer Olympics, and provided to athletes as part of their welcome kits at the Games. Athletes got to choose from three different formulas, each containing skin-nourishing ingredients to boost either moisture, brightening or smoothing.
TargetOlay Cleansing Melts + Hyaluronic Acid
These cleansing pads feature the addition of hyaluronic acid, which helps to boost and add hydration, rather than leaving your skin dry like so many other cleansers.
Olay Cleansing Melts + Vitamin C
The infusion of vitamin C in this formula helps to not only clean, but also brighten skin naturally. This is a great pickup for those who struggle with dull skin.
Olay Cleansing Melts + Retinol
Retinol is a proven anti-aging ingredient and the addition of it to these cleansing pads helps to deliver a smoother complexion and more even skin tone. Users say the retinol is super gentle and safe even for those with sensitive skin.
Olay says it chose the five athletes for being “game changers” in their sport, adding that the new Cleaning Melts are also changing the game for facial cleansers. Available now at Target.com, each pack contains 32 stamp-size pads that dissolve under running water. Use one pad each morning and night (or after a workout or travel) to help refresh your skin.
In addition to the big Olympics rollout, Olay says to expect an “integrated marketing campaign that will include television advertising, print advertising, social promotion and athlete engagement” through the end of September.
